Instructions to our blog authors
For first time authors on the UQ Palaeo Blog, these are instructions on how to integrate your blog post with our site layout.
1. When you click 'new post' on the blog page the area to edit your post will come up.
2. The title 'Post Title' should be replaced with your text. Although this looks like it is in a strange position it publishes to the correct spacing.
3. Drag a TEXT or IMAGE + TEXT box to the start the area below the date.
4. Start your post with By [Your Full Name].
5. Select the text 'Your Name and click on the hyperlink button in the dark grey, hovering editing bar (looks like three links of chain).
6. Click on the check box to make the link open in a new window.
7. In the box under Website URL paste the URL of your research profile webpage.
8. To add your name to the 'Posts by Authors' category listing in the side bar of the published blog, so readers can find all posts by you, look to the grey box on the right. In the middle-right there is blue text 'Add'. Click on this. Type your full name into the text box that appears and press the Add button. You will see your name and the box next to it ticked in the list below. Next time you write a post your name will be in this list, so you tick the box next to your name in the list rather than adding a new category.
9. Drag any elements your wish to add from the left hand bar into your blog space. Write your article and add images etc.
10. When you are finished editing, click the orange button at the top of your post area called 'Publish Live'. This will bring up a box saying your post has been published and some other things you can ignore. Close the window by clicking the X in a blue circle at the top right of the box.
11. If you have added your name to the categories this time you need to also click PUBLISH in the right top of the main page. This will bring up a similar window as the last, which you can also close by clicking the X in a blue circle at the top right of the box. Until you do this your post will be there, and visible under 'all' but your name will not appear in the 'Posts by authors' section.
12. Go to the website to see if everything has displayed correctly. If so, you are done.
